Application Information

 Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday at our office located at

1620 NW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas between the hours of

8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. or by appointment. 

If you live in the Parsons area, you may apply either in Topeka or by appointment in Parsons.


Documentation required to be eligible to take the aptitude test:

  1. A non-refundable application fee of $25.00 is required to receive an application.
  2. A copy of your birth certificate, drivers license and social security card.
  3. A transcript of your high school grades.
  4. A copy of your GED or Diploma papers/certificate.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for an interview:

  1. Age – Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  2. Education – Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED and a minimum of one (1) year of Algebra with a passing grade.
  3. Aptitude – Applicant must receive a high score on the aptitude test.
  4. Physical Condition – Applicant must be able to perform essential functions of electrical construction work.
  5. Documentation – Applicant must complete and turn in all documentation within 20 days of receiving application to be considered complete.

All applicants must reside within the Local Union #226 jurisdiction.  The Committee will grant all applicants who meet the basic requirements an interview.  The eligible applicants will be notified by mail of the date, time and place to appear for their interview.  If an applicant fails to appear at the scheduled time, the Committee will consider the applicant is no longer interested in the program.  Apprentices will be selected in the order of applicants ranking resulting from the rating at their interview.
